Rollerhockey Woes
While playing rollerhockey I have a few pet peeves that I think most sensible people can agree upon even if you don't understand or even play rollerhockey. One of my hockey teams is soooo guilty of these. So here's my list:
  1. Don't stay out on the "ice" forever.
Seriously, you think that this is common sense. Go to the bench when you are tired. It's not soccer, in hockey you can come in and out as much as you want AND you can do it during play at any time you want! Why do some guys stay out on the "ice" for 5 minute shifts is beyond me! They are tired after the first minute and yet they continue to play! I hate guys that do this, it's selfish and stupid.
  2. Pass the freaking ball!
Nobody likes a ball-hog or an excessive show-off. Get over your ego. Hockey is a team sport. And you should especially pass it to me cuz I can score! More than I can count, I have been open, been spotted by my teammate with the ball, and NOT passed to. They try to take the ball down the entire rink themselves. Very selfish. (And my team wonders why we lose every game.)
  3. Don't be a limp wristed captain.
If you're the captain of the team you have to step up and lead. Do more than just collect everyone's money at the start of the game. If someone steps out of line, reprimand them. You're the captain, it's your team! Praise your players. Offer constructive criticism. Grow a pair and take charge of your team.
  4. Hustle
If you wanna play in a competitive league, you have to hustle. Period. Don't want to hustle? GTFOff the "ice".
If my team followed these four points, then I bet we'd win a bunch more games and have a lot more fun in the process.
