I sent a package loaded with Christmas presents for my family home in December. Somewhere between
here and there someone screwed up. The package was not delivered. I just recently went to the post
office to check out what happened. So the guy at the post office checks on the computer and comes
back and tells me that the package is somewhere in America. (Good, at least it's in America.) But
then he says it's at some holding facility. What?! Why is it at a holding facility? Apparently one
of the handlers thought something inside was broken. So instead of delivering it they are just holding
it. Just deliver the damn thing!
There was some alcohol in the box so maybe one of those broke open during the flight and spilled out.
If that was the case too bad for my brother Nick, but there are other presents waiting to be
delivered. Just send it on to the address! Put it in a garbage bag if it's leaking and take it to it's
destination. Why is that so hard? Now I have to wait while the Japanese post office sends a fax to
their American counterparts to determine where exactly the package is. Then when they find out
they will tell me what will happen. I surely hope everyone gets their stuff straight and delivers it.
It's been over a month.
What I also don't like is how I had to go and ask what the problem was. They didn't come to me and
tell me there was a delay, I had to go find out from them after hearing from everyone back home that no
package arrived. Poor customer service from everyone involved. So everyone back home, Merry Christmas
to you.
UPDATE: The package got delivered sometime around January 20th and nothing was broken at all! I think
they were holding it and hoping I wouldn't inquire so they could get their dirty post office mits on
all the goods from Japan inside.
