Let me tell you about the sweetest browser around, Opera. You can pick up your free copy
at Opera.com. It kicks the crap out of
Internet Explorer (IE) and FireFox (FF) in 9/10 areas. Support for .ASP is lacking, but that's a
decision by the makers, not a flaw.
The thing I like most is that Opera's interface is awesomely customizable. And it just looks much
better than the other IE & FF. It doesn't look like a Windows 95 interface they both do. Those
two other browsers just look ugly, like your mother. But looks are one thing. What about performance
and functionality? Don't worry Opera's got you covered on both bases.
95% of everything IE does, Opera does equally or even better, (except .ASP stuff). Opera has tons
of great features that people think FF invented. And best of all most of this stuff is already built into
the browser, you don't have to be constantly downloading new plug-ins and extentions.
Some features that I absolutely can't live without:
1. MOUSE GESTURES
You right click the mouse, move it a bit then some action occurs. Sugoi! Opera has
reinvented the click with this one. No more back button for me! Once you use it you'll
never go back to that damn back button. Yeah, just like IE and FF pushing the BACKSPACE key
will also take you back.
2. THE GARBAGE BIN
This holds a list of recently closed pages. If I accidentally close one, I just go back
to the recycling bin and open it up again. A must for tabbed browsing because every now and then
you're gonna accidently close a tab that you need.
3. BUILT IN BIT TORRENT
Oh yes it does! Opera has a build in Bit Torrent client. No need for some other 3rd party
client on your system Opera has all that functionality already.
4. VOICE
Opera will read webpages for you. Especially nice for long text pages (like this one).
5. SPEED
The Opera 9.5 is blazingly fast. It's like the nerds at Opera were promised hot women for every
tenth of a second they saved while rendering pages. They're probably still getting laid as you read this.
New to Opera, albeit following FF's example, is the ad-blocking functionality. Opera also has an RSS reader and
a mail client. I have configured my Opera with my Gmail account so I can send Gmail messages without having
to log into the Gmail website. Sweet!
I can also Validate my webpages within the right click context menu. And the Opera Devloper's console is fan-freakin-tastic when
it comes to writing pages. I love how you can change a webpage's styles with a few simple clicks.
You can even surf completely from the keyboard with all the shortcuts, which are, of course,
fully customizable. The interface has space for all sorts of gadgets and widgets, and the best part is that you
can customize it to your liking. Of course it works fine right after installation too without all that other
stuff too, Opera can be a super-sleek looking browser too.
This is one bandwagon worth jumping on. Even Nintendo is on this bandwagon. By the way, FireFox is the browser
of choice for Furries everywhere. You don't want to be associated with Furries do you? Haha. Nevar Forget.
